|
|
I'm looking to move to a Spanish-speaking country in October. I have a TEFL, a BA, and a year and a half teaching experience. I'd like to eventually end up in Argentina, but I understand that there probably aren't many schools looking for teachers at that time. I will have a good amount of back-up money, so that's not a huge concern. On the other hand, I hate to search for work for 6 months and drain my bank account while looking.
Can anyone recommend a destination where there may be work to be found late this year? Better yet, for those 'in the know' about Argentina, am I likely to scrounge up a little something there even in the off-season if I look around for a couple of months? |

Speaking for Mexico City, if you come looking for work in a language institute, you can most likely find comething any time of the year, but not at the end of the year, when Christmas/New Year festivities kick in. |

Thanks MO39,
I've been thinking of DF for a while, and from what research I've done it looks like my best bet for work given my awkward preferred start-date. My girlfriend (as well as myself) has really been excited about the possibility of Argentina though.
Given our desire to head to Argentina eventually, have you, or anyone else come across 6 month job offerings in Mexico City? We're thinking about possibly working in Mexico for 6 months, and then heading south to BsA in March or so. |

If you owned a language school, would you give work to someone who announced his intention of sticking around for only six months? |

I certainly would if I needed a teacher. I don't think it was a silly question. Maybe there are more teachers than there are jobs, and it's an employers market. I don't know. That's why I'm trying to find answers and get a feel for the situation in Mexico. |

There are some places here in DF that will hire you for six months. Some places will be happy to have a teacher stay for six months.
Or you can just get a job and take off when you want, that happens all the time and both foreign and Mexican teachers do it. just make sure you get your pay first.
I forgot to mention that there are some rural schools and in small towns that happen to advertise on this website and on others. The pay is not so good and there have been mixed reviews, but they do offer 4-6 month contracts. |

If you're interested in Peru, there are plenty of jobs that would hire you for six months, PM me if you're interested. |
