I just hit Taiwan, and I'm looking for work - like now!

Before I arrived I was applying for jobs, and have sent out more than a dozen replies to jobs listed in Tealit - and I heard back exactly squat.

Is there some trick to it that I'm missing? Their forum is pretty dead.

You might try some of the other job boards. There's a list of them here:

Just scroll down to the section labeled Taiwan.

Cheers Surrealia,

I've been on a lot of boards, Daves, Formosa, buxiban, but they all seem to have the same range of crappy, newby kindergarten positions.

Tealit seems to be more connected to the schools and advertise a lot of positions that don't get to the wider web.

Maybe the sites more for those in Taiwan?

Another suggestion is to find some of the foreigner hang-outs and meet some teachers who have been here longer. They may not all be open to helping you out, but in my experience, the foreign community is a good source of lucrative leads!

You must consider that you are not the only guy out there who responds to their employment ads. They must get over a dozen resumes for each position. Since they often include telephone numbers in their job announcements, you might call to check if they're interested in someone like you. In any line of work, at least nine out of ten resumes you send out receive no reply.

Good luck anyway!

Cheers people.

Yeh, now I'm in country making calls makes an obvious difference. The emails I sent out were all to "tealit emails".

Thanks everyone.
