Does Oman have similar requirements to the UAE when it comes to these docs? Do they need to be authenticated before coming over?

I don't recall having to supply a birth certificate for my job in Nizwa (through CfBT). They did ask for degrees, but I didn't have to get them authenticated/notarized/etc. SQU has asked for the degrees to be authenticated, but based on the information that they sent me it looks like it can be done at the embassy in Muscat, at least for Americans. (I'm really hoping that's the case, because doing it over the summer would be a major headache!)

In my case for Dhofar University, I've had to authenticate both my undergrad and grad degrees by the Oman embassy AND a secondary source (notary public, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or Chamber of Commerce). I was originally asked to do the same for my marriage certificate but then told it's not necessary, but bring original. Birth certificate has never been mentioned.

Is it that the procedure has recently changed, or do you think that every institution in Oman does it differently?

my guess is that the direct hires need to produce authenticated degrees whilst the recruiters somehow get around this.
