probably a stupid question, but do english schools in australia expect a photo to go along with the resume, as they do in most asian countries?

Erm, I might just elaborate a bit on that... not only do they not expect it, it's not even a consideration. Nowhere here does the 'photo with resume' deal.

... except perhaps acting/modelling, but you get the drift.

It would be considered quite odd, heh.
