Hi Again:

Just read on the "net" today that some Korean recruiter's office was "taken over" by immigration. What next ensued was seizure of file cabinets, computers and anything else they (immigration) deemed relevant to their case.

It appears this recruiter was telling "TALL TALES" Twisted Evil along any lines necesary to convince teachers to work "extra private" jobs for him in addition to their jobs.

South Korea's (my current location) policys is EXTREMELY STRICT on this matter and the new administration is cracking down. I've done privates in the past with consent of my employer at the time and by submission of proper paperwork to immigration..........

What is Hong Kong's policy/procedure on teaching outside of your primary job? Just curious. Even at the bottom of the NET pay scale, the salary is higher than one would make in Korea- which will pay a little more for an B.Ed or BA/BS w/Teacher Certification, but not as much as Hong Kong

My thanks to one and all

Leigh

oh, what the heck? I'll answer:

Arrow If you really want to do this you will need prior written approval from the School Supervisor, and the situation will be reviewed every 6 months to ensure that any part-time jobs are not interfering with NET responsibilities.

Arrow and, as it seems that you would be, any NET who is in Hong Kong on a foreign national work visa would also need prior written approval from the Director of Immigration before taking up part-time jobs.
