July 31 was my last day of full time work in my old life.
Today I flew to the West Coast of Canada and by 5 p.m. I've got a part-time temporary teaching gig. Since I'll be here for only a month I certainly wasn't looking for, or expecting work.
In Mexico, how often have you who are working in Mexico been offered teaching jobs simply because you've mentioned in casual conversation you were a teacher?
I've heard this happens a lot in Thailand, |

I'm not a teacher, but I've been offered leads to teaching jobs simply because I was a native English speaker. So I would guess it happens a lot. |

Almost on a daily basis. However, it doesn't always mean there's a serious offer. I've found that people sometimes are simply expressing a wish to have a tutor and don't follow up on it. Other times it's been simply to flirt with me or a way to ask for a date. Over the years I've pretty much learned to ignore the majority of such offers, though when I first got here I pursued most of these types of offers, including the ones that ended up being dates |
