Pay seems to be trying to catch up with inflation. It seems that most schools are grudgingly stepping up t the $1500 mark on salaries and hourly rates are edging up in response to the housing and food increases.
Not that the smaller entrepreneur's won't still try to hook you on $12-15 an hour with no guarantee of hours but they are learning how futile it is to try to hire an expat teacher at sub-standard wages and then make you think they can enforce your "contract" to work illegally.
In the last week I have had 3 different schools call wondering if I can sub-contract personally or arrange for teachers from other schools to "moonlight" for more hourly work for their increasing client loads. |
