What's the word on the street for this new international school that will be opening next year near Jeddah? I see it advertising all over the place for staff and was wondering if anyone has heard anything.

Edit to add:
Apparently this will be on the campus of the new King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.

Any chance of this actually being a proper place of higher education?

KAUST is certainly a "proper place of higher education". It's a very big project, indeed. It aims to become the premier research institution in KSA, and I understand that it will be truly coeducational. That said, an international school on the premises of KAUST is likely to be a plum of a job. What are they offering?

All higher education institutions are a joke here (save for KFUPM maybe?). And schools, they are all jokes as well, except for the handful of Western-managed ones. (and not all of those either)

So doesn't matter where I teach within KSA... chances are very high I will be joking along! Wink

The main sites are ISS, Search Associates, and Joy Jobs which are all international school recruiting sites that you have to register (and pay $$$) to join.

The pay and bennies seem good. For certified teachers BA+4 years get $49,000US and MA+8 years get $64,000. Plus, you housing, utilities, insurance, flights, etc. This quite decent by Saudi standards right?

It certainly does seem legit. They will be at a job fair in Hong Kong I'll be attending in January, so I think I'll try to set up an interview with them.
