Any opinions on the best place for single women in their 30s.... from all my research this is what I conclude but would love to hear other opinions....

Europe is great but the money and legal issues make it near impossible to get a decent job.

Asia is a single mans paradise but most Asia men are not into North American women.

Latin American is amazing and the people are warm, but culturally most people are married and having children at a young age (early 20s).

Any experiences to confirm or contradict this?

Middle East might be an option. As for Latin America, I don't know, you'll probably have your choice of guy, if that's what you're looking for, but you'll work a lot.

What are you looking for exactly? Money? A relationship? Travel? Nice weather? Let us know and we could help you.

Are you kidding? It is almost every Asian man's greatest dream to meet a Western woman. They are so accustomed to seeing Asian women with white guys and they often can't understand why Western woman are not attracted to them. Of course there are many exceptions and there are many couples in Asia and the world consisting of Western women/Asian males. However, by and large Asian men dream about such an opportunity. Often the a lot of the young Asian guys I teach or know are simply not sophisticated enough for Western women. When a man's main intererests in life are video games, sleeping and watching TV, Asian or not he is not likely to interest the average Western women. MOD EDIT

But seriously now...

Ive lived in Mexico for 5 years and Im 44 now. I assumed when I came here that dating was off the map since I figured that this was a "good Catholic country" so all the guys my age would be married. Lo and behold, divorced guys (and some committed bachelors) do exist here.

Ive dated 4 guys in the past 5 years. I dont know if its the age thing (dating in your 40's is very different from dating in your teens and 20's) or the fact that many Mexican guys are over that whole macho thing, but my experiences have been mostly positive. I will say that it seems that an Anglo woman would probably have better luck with men in urban areas and areas that have more foreign contact. I lived in Toluca, and none of the guys I dated were from there, they were all from nearby Mexico City.

I agree with the comments about Asian men. That stereotypical guy described by Anjin-san, the one who just wants to play video games and sleep, certainly would not interest me!

I was hit on and asked out more times than I can remember in Chile and Peru. Some of them seemed interested in getting a date, some of them were just creeps who hooted at any female that passed by, and some were presumably just practicing their English and/or trying to be cute (as in the 80ish-year-old guy who asked me to marry him when I walked by him).

In the Middle East, dating the locals really isn't terribly common and it often raises eyebrows, so you're basically left with your fellow foreigners and colleagues.

I think getting hit on depends a lot on your looks. For example here in Peru, unfortunalety blondes get hit on more than black haired people. That's just the way it is here.

Pay no attention to Sharter, he or she is clearly in need of attention.

Age notwithstanding, foreign women are generally a bit of a novelty in Ecuador and most of Latin America. Plenty of attention on offer, but I don't know that it's attention that most enjoy.

Honestly, though- anyplace that offers a reasonably vibrant social scene, meaning practically any moderately sized city without undue cultural restrictions, is a good place to meet people, regardless of gender.

Best,
Justin

Yeah, what's with Sharter?

Anyway, I'm in my early sixties and have actually been dating the last few months, much to my surprise. Also to my surprise, several of the nicest guys I've met have been quite a few years younger than me. And I'm not blonde or typically gringa-looking, except for my pale complexion, so it must be my fabulous personality that's doing the trick Very Happy. The fact that I have a good command of Spanish helps, I'm sure. I would suspect that living in Mexico City makes it easier than it would be in a smaller, more conservative place.

Try Spain or Italy - the men there will be better looking than the ones in English countries and will love to sleep with British / North American women.

As a last resort, try anywhere with lots of rugby clubs, especially the initiation parties for new members.

Try Indonesia - warm (actually, hot) weather, beautiful beaches. VERY friendly people, and you can get a decent salary if you land the right job.
Regards,
John

I have no interest in moving to Indonesia (hot weather and beaches are not my thing), but I wonder what kind of social life our OP could expect there.

You do not mention TEFL/TESL at all...please fill us in on some essential information:

Arrow What type of education and professional qualifications have you earned?

Arrow What type of teaching experience do you have?

Perhaps then we can help to match your desires/needs with the teaching job market, as we know it.

Wink
