If I have a Master's degree in World History from an accredited American University and 3 years experience, 2 at a university (in Korea), and a TEFL 100 hour certificate. How does that stack up in the Middle East?
I would like to see the ME for a year or two. Preferrably making the most money possible. That happens in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia right?
Since my degree is not English or related does that prove a hindrance? If so, how much?
I also have a wife who would be joining me that is filipina. We're not into partying anymore, don't drink, spend most of our time at home when we are not travelling.
I'm 29 and American.
What salary range would I fall in the higher paying countries and the lesser paying ones like the UAE, Oman, etc? |

I would say that the UAE and Qatar pay better than Kuwait. Your non-related MA problem will depend on how desperate they are for teachers. HCT in the UAE seems to be desperate right now - running an ad every week, you might try throwing in an application online and see if they respond.
Another point is that many employer give 3 year contracts now.

half the universities in kuwait are real sticky about having a 'tefl or applied linguistics' masters and the other half are flexible
1100-1300 kd per month at university level - base pay
you would make enough to sponsor a wife regardless of nationality
have masters attested by kuwait embassy in washington dc, cultural affairs office
other tefl certificates/diplomas or a teaching license might help |
