can anyone give me any advice on who to apply to for a teaching job in Japan. Not the big companies such as GEOS and co. How easy is it to arrange work in Japan? Thanks |

Can you be a little more specific... your age, experience, education, preferred location, etc. |

What is your time frame?
What are your goals?
Have you even read one of the FAQ stickies at the top of this page?
Have you done any searching on this forum?
If you are qualified for a work visa, it is relatively easy to arrange for it, whether you are in or outside the country. Visa processing takes about 2-8 weeks. |

I can start a.s.a.p once the visa is sorted. My goal is to experience Japanese culture but I am also keen to develop my teaching skills. I have one month teaching experience and a degree. I'm keen on Kyoto area, or somewhere a bit more chilled than Tokyo. Not sure really. I've never been to Japan. Thanks |

You'll experience the Japanese culture anywhere you go in Japan, as long as you walk out that front door. You'll be able to find a nice job if you try hard enough to find one. You looking for more kids, adults or both type classes? |

Perhaps you don't understand the visa process.
1. Get hired by an employer who is willing and able to sponsor your visa.
2. Both of you submit the visa application paperwork.
3. Wait 2-8 weeks.
4. THEN, start work when the visa or COE comes.
You didn't answer my question about time frame, so let me rephrase. When do you want to start, and how long do you plan to work here?
If your goals are to "experience Japanese culture", I would rate your chances in an interview as meager to fair. EVERYONE says that. Employers want to know what you plan to do for THEM, not yourself. |

By and large, it is the larger companies that recruit from overseas and provide visa sponsorship - Geos, Aeon, ECC et al. Smaller companies don't have the means or the need for the most part.
Have you considered JET? |

Please don't send them JETs way. There are enough people "wanting to experience Japanese culture" applying already. And gods save us from teaching tourists that want to live in Kyoto |
