I went to go deposit money in my Garanti bank account this morning, and they said it wasn't possible because I didn't have a tax number! I've been using this account for the past 2 years with no problems. Has anyone else had this problem?
The reason I need to deposit all this cash into my account is to get a (non-working) residence visa, but it seems from doing a search on "residence visa" on this forum the procedure may have changed?? Can anyone shed some light on this? |

The same thing happened to me at Finansbank about 6 months ago. I wanted to withdraw money, and they wouldn't allow me to do so without a tax number.
Anyway, the tax number is simple to get. I was taken to a government building in Mecidiyek�y with an ET office boy. It took about 5 minutes. |
