For starters....I'm a woman.
So, I've been interviewing, mostly for work with young kids. Sometimes, like tomorrow, they want you to come and interact with the kids and have lunch and stuff.
My question is.....can I dress more casual?
I remember my old tool of a boss....ex-Nova guy....once showing up to one of my 2-year old classes in a suit. He was too tall and had a foot the size of my arm and the kids were frightened by him.
What a clown......anyway....what do you think?
Can I dress nice but casul?
I usually wear black pants, a blouse, and nice dress shoes....could I wear casual nice pants, with a nice blouse and ballet type shoes?? |

Who knows what they want... Perhaps you could ask them? They might even be impressed if you ask, because it shows that you're taking the interview seriously! If you're a little different... in a good way!... you might stand out a little and get the job.
One of the reasons I got hired from a job once was because, as I was told, I dressed down a little. I wore more earthy colours and had a tie with some cartoon characters on it. Most other applicants dressed in the standard suit and tie. Of course, a few came dressed like they'd just spend the day at the beach... |

For the interview (what your subject line asked), dress professionally in a suit.
At the interview, ask what the dress code is and what most women teachers wear.
Do what they say. |

I've had jobs and if I know anything it's how to dress. I always dress appropriately for my work environment.
My question was specific, and I was looking for opinions from people who have worked with and gone to interviews with children. |

They can be tricky, but I find if you write your resume in different coloured crayons, and have lots of pictures it goes over well.
I wear shorts and Tshirt at my job and sometimes I wear brighter colours for my kids classes but for the interview I wore a suit. At the end of the day it is an interview and the kids aren't doing the hiring, so make the adults feel at ease, with your professionalism. |
