When you say you are Asian Chinese but not China Chinese, it got me thinking that there may be the problem.
These schools would prefer to hire a white face whose English is terrible to a well spoken Asian, maybe its not your teaching but the image you project, which quite frankly pisses me off.
Don't lose heart, look for another job.Take care

Right, this pisses me off too. But putting racism aside and focusing on what the contract actually says, you can consult a lawyer if the employer is making a grievance on unfair grounds. This is, of course, easier said and done but http://www.efl-law.com/china_faq.html has some good pointers on what you can do.
The legal resources for EFL teachers in China are limited, but I'm hoping that lawyers will draw on experiences from Korea as the market develops further.
