I lived there (Quito and Cuenca) for a year in the earlier part of this decade, and I remember prices in Cuenca being a bit high then, but now WOW! Even in the frumpier areas of Cuenca, they want US $400K for a house - or more.
I know that Cuenca has a decent sized middle-class, but how can real estate be so expensive there, and in Quito? Especially given the wages...
