Ok as the title says I just got my Z VISA here.
I know theres a lot of talk about this these days so I'll give U my lowdown.
1/ I am an Engineer not a Teacher.
2/ I am 47 years old.
3/ I had legitimate 'F' VISA, Sichuan Dept of Labour license and invite to work and my medical done in Chengdu (a lot of paperwork).
4/ I admit I was worried so I didn't go to the Consulate myself, went through my old friends at Cosmic Guesthouse in Mirador Mansion in Kowloon because they process many VISA apps. daily and have "friends" at the Consulate (700 HK dollars, 1 day)
By the way I am giving them a good word because for 4 years they have been awesome everytime I stay in HK, not the Hilton but just lovely people.....

I do know of 1 VISA help place in Chengdu that will cost about 4000 to do it their way but I think still includes a trip to HK to get your 'F' VISA - PM me if you need this info but be aware I don't check in here daily.
Hope this helps.
Mark

Hey, thanks for the update. There are quite a few guesthouses in M. Mansion and many of them do have agents or outsource to visa agents for C-visas. I had used an agent operating from Kim's Guest House (maybe Kim herself!) while doing the last visa run, right before the Olympics began. The regulations were tighter then I presume.
At that time, it was just to extend a tourist (L) visa. I'd be interested in testing the waters again to see what can be done for the visa (Z) I actually wanted to begin with.
A note about Kim's GH: The visa service was good but the cheap rooms were *too* small for the price. She asked me for $180 HK dollars/night to stay in a room, withiout window, which measured about 11 X 3'! I ignorantly paid it as I was only there for two nights. |

i've stayed in the cosmic guesthouse. its fine, no complaints from me. all the guesthouses in mirador and chungking mansions have small rooms, some are better than others. i would never take one without a window though (as another poster mentions). i'd feel like i was in solitary if i did.
just curious why you were worried to go get the visa alone? if you could elaborate more... |
