Just got a job with Pearson (formerly Edexcel) marking their LTE English scripts online. They're paying 44- 54p per answer (1 answer is 100- 120 words) and there is a fairly standard basic marking criteria for it to be marked against.

However, I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience of working with them? And how many scripts do you think it is reasonable (ie realistic for me and fair to students) to mark in an hour? So far all my dealings with them have been through email and the expected "rate of marking" hasn't been mentioned. For a 100 word essay marked against the 4 simple marking criteria I'm thinking maybe 5 minutes an answer. But that translates to almost minimum wage. That can't be right, surely, or are we expected to plough through them at a rate of 2 or 3 minutes each? That seems like barely glancing at the answer to me....

Your experiences?
