In the Gulf, they want to see a cert where you have received supervised teaching experience. If she wants to teach in the UAE, tell her to get the CELTA.

But is it also safe to say your existing degree(s) and experience is more important than the source of your TEFL/TESL certificate? Of course CELTA is more desireable but with a Masters and years of experience, I would think it hardly matters...? I could be wrong, and it could be a moot point anyway since the OP didn't mention experience...just thought I'd throw it out there Wink

I doubt anyone with an MA would be asking about an online TEFL cert...

From the OP, I assume some non-teaching first degree of some sort (hopefully) and limited or no experience.

I've never heard of it, but I'm no expert. No idea about what's necessary for Cyprus

If she doesn't have a first degree, she need not bother with the Gulf at all. A BA+CELTA(preferred cert)+a few years of related experience is the absolute minimum for the bad jobs.

You might ask about Cyprus requirements on the General Europe or even Turkey board. I spoke to a university there, but they required an MA.
