Hello ESL community,
Right now I am in pursuit of my TEFL cert (should be done by this time next month) and among my tentatively desired countries to teach in is Ukraine. I was just there two months ago on holiday, and despite the "modest" living conditions, I really enjoyed my time there and made more friends. As of right now, what does the ESL job market look like (particularly Kiev)?
Do most schools there require a Bachelor's degree?
Does anyone here know anything about Phoenix Center in Kiev? It looks like it may be good, but I want some testimonials/anecdotes if possible.
That's it for now, I'll update as more questions and concerns come to mind.
Thank You

If you have a look at the postings on this site, including those under the new separate heading for Ukraine you will be able to glean quite a lot of useful info.Everyone wants to be in Kiev, because not only is that where the best salaries usually are, but also because its the capital and has the best cultural and other facilities.Although cheaper than Moscow, and a far more desirable place to live in than Russia as a whole, prices are rising and inflation is high so don't be fooled into believing you will live like a king for the equivalent of a few hundred $per month! The only other city I would consider living in in Ukraine is probably Odessa where prices are lower, but so too are wages. |
