Hi, everybody. I'm experienced, degreed, certified (I mean TEFL Cert), and American. I've taught about 10 years in Asia, including 18 months in HCM City in 2002-2003. I know the scene fairly well, just wondering if the work slows down in November (Tet is January 26th, 2009).

Also, how are the prospects for private teaching in Saigon? I have worked with kids 8-13 for the last five years in China. Now living in Thailand, but the bad stock market is forcing me to go back to work.

What's the rate for privates?

Thanks for any info.

I think November is fine to arrive while it is not the best time to look for work you still won't have any trouble esp with your quals and experience.

Good privates are hard to come by.What I mean by that is privates that pay on time, pay well and don't cancel classes. I have always found the best private students to be working professionals.

My privates ranged from $20 - $25 hour. None of them had more than 4 people in them.
