| i dont know people who have worked there, but maybe you wouldnt like the location - its far south. the broadcast university is nearby as well. there is a 'light rail' that goes there, and then you can transfer to the subway system to go where ever you want. |

I know. It's actually closer to the city than my current place, so i'd happily live there. |

I worked at Erwai way back in '02. But I was there as part of a Uni prep programme. I'm happy for you if they have light rail now - they didn't back then! And there was no subway. I have to say I found the place depressing. But you might like it. It depends what you are after. I found winter to be bleak. There was 4 months of everything being just grey - the sky, the concrete, the trees (all the leaves fall off, of course).
If you are a bog ESL teacher, the expectations are low, and as long as you show up to class sober and wearing something covering your genitalia, you should be fine. Expect only about 12 hours of teaching week in the actual language dept. I didn't work in that dept and had a real job, putting in 50-60 hours a week. |

This reminds me of the guidance on the Transitions Abroad website. For Thailand - need to speak English and have a pulse....
But seriously, you are not correct. You don't need to be *completely* sober. |

I thought Erwai would be serious about their FTs. The university is quite known. It's not exactly the best Beijing university, but it's been around for a while and everyone seems to know about it.
Anyway, thanks for your input. |

| Like I say, It's been 6 years since I was there, so I may be way off line. Al I know is that my friends who worked in the language dept. back then had little more to do than show up to class and think up a topic as they trudged along the corridor. They got about 3.5 thousand/month back then, which made it all so worthwhile. |
