MA in linguistics?

Or in general, how much money can one make monthly with an MA in linguistics? Could one get a university position?

What is the nicest and least polluted Chinese city? I have heard good things about Shanghai?

You sound funny asking two such questions together.

How much can you earn? Nowadays up to about 18,000 RMB a month but you sound like you lack experience so that will put you down to about 12,000 for a reasonable job with a bit of luck. Then again they might tell you that you need two years teaching experience for a resident visa.

Most university jobs will take your pay level down to 5,000 to 8,000 RMB a month with the normal extras.

If you don't make the students happy you might not hold a job once you get one. The trouble with Shanghai is that many want to be there so there is no shortage of applicants especially for the better jobs. You have no track record so don't expect employers to fall over backwards to get you just because you have a MA in linguistics.

The site above used to have loads of jobs on offer about a year back but nowadays they have few on offer and the big money offers have all but disappeared

i hate nitpicking, but so as to avoid any additional confusion for a newcomer to china, its a Z visa, which is then replaced with a residence permit after arrival in China and at the job.

i dont know how one of china's most populous cities could ever qualify as least polluted... but if its low pollution levels, (relatively) clean air, and blue skies you're after, then your best bet is to go west.

qinghai, xinjiang, some parts of sichuan maybe, but definitely not eastern china. but high paying jobs are few to non-existent out that way as far as i know.

hard to believe that with all your posts, and with a simple search of this site, you havent been able to get an idea of that yourself.
