Hello, I'm probably going to work in Thailand for 6 months, I was thinking about living in a Hotel for that time, as I didn't want to fork out for furniture and apartment etc. How much do you think it would cost to live in a medium priced hotel in Bangkok (with a pool)? Do many teachers do it?

You can probably find a furnished apartment on a 6 month lease for the same price as any hotel. I knew a lot of teachers, myself included, that stayed in an apartment called Ratchaprarop Mansion close to Victory Monument and Makasan. A furnished one room apartment with balcony costs about 6,500 baht a month. The place has a pool, sauna, small crappy gym, internet cafe, two restaurants and a Thai massage shop. It's also pretty close to Victory Monument and Soi Rangnam. This is just one example -- I am sure there are many places like this all over Bangkok. |

yup. mrroomfinder.com will help. Makes a lot more sense then staying in a hotel, and will be a lot cheaper. |

mrroomfinder.com worked for me. Staying in a hotel for that long will be too expensive. A serviced apartment will have more amenities like internet, kitchen, pool, gym...but it depends on the apartment and how much you want to spend. But even a nice serviced apartment should be cheaper than a hotel. Of course some hotels will also give a discount for long time stays. I guess it all depends on how much money you have to spend/waste! Good luck. |
