How does the price of quality watches and bespoke suits in KSA compare with the UK?

In general, luxury goods are cheaper here than in the US or UK. Watches and suits are actually two of my interests, even though I only own a couple of each (because I am poor).

I have compared prices of Japanese and Swiss watches between SA and the US, and found them to be much cheaper in SA. As a rule of thumb, I found that the prices of quality watches in watch shops in SA are as low as the prices of the same watches on the cheapest online retailers in the US. I assume the prices of watches in the UK are at least as high as the prices in the US, and probably higher. Quality watch shops are all over the place in SA, unlike in the US or UK.

As for suits, I have never had a suit tailored, but brand name Italian, French, and German suits are widely available here and are quite cheap (quality fabric; Super 120s and higher). The cheapest ones start at about $200, and are still very good in quality. And a stunning HUGO BOSS or YSL will set you back $500-$1,000. The best thing to do is to pick them up when they go on sale during the holidays each year, for about 50% of the original price, and sometimes just 30%! And to have that tailored fit, you can get your ready-made suit altered at the shop you buy it from. Light linen suits are available as well.

Oh, and if you have a shoe fetish, SA is paradise. (watches, jewellery, anc clothes as well)

It seems the paradise and Autocracy of the magic kingdom is better than the Democracy of Uncle Sam in Iraq! Laughing

Well, I have heard that some of the above brand name suits are made from cheap Chinese fabrics and tailored by the Pakistani and Indians tailors, and labeled with 'Made in Italy' logo, and sold for $250 each!!!

BTW, trapezius, what about Clarks shoes (Made in UK not Romania!) in the magic kingdom, are they cheaper than UK?

Get down to Bahta. You'll get a fine suit made for a fraction of UK prices. And a thobe, too.

Yup, in my experience, while the savings on watches is usually pretty good, it's the bespoke tailoring (very good quality) that's can really be a great deal.
Regards.

if you are looking to buy cheap-cheap and not fussy about high quality then yes...
...Bat' haa is the place to go... not all the tailors in Bat'haa are cut from the same cloth....luck of the draw I supose.

if quality is important and as Trapezius says there are bargins to be had...then Olaya Street is more likely one of the areas to go to for the upscale brands and fine tailoring...

Modern Tailor in Khobar will do you a bespoke suit for 500 SR. The material would cost you 300 or 400. They do nice bespoke shirts too.
