|
|
I would really like to teach English in Taiwan (likely at a bushiban in Taipei) beginning next month for approximately 6 months (as I have plans to be in India in June 2009). I know that technically a minimum 1-yr contract is required, but read in an earlier post that schools will sometimes fudge a 6-, 8-, or 10-month contract and say it's for a year in order for teachers to get their ARCs.
Could anyone tell me if this is common, or is it virtually impossible to find schools willing to hire teachers for under a year? Have you or anyone you know had a job that was less than a year commitment (other than a 2-3 month summer post)?
Thanks in advance for your help... |

Have you tried, "Tealit.com"
There are a lot of listings for taipei, perhaps a good idea would be to pick a few favorites and then just call and ask them or write an email.
I am just guessing, but I think there might be a 50/50 chance of finding what you are looking for. Most schools want the stability of a one year contract, but on the other hand some schools will accept other than the ideal situation, especially ones that are growing fast or having difficulty keeping teachers.
Good Luck! |

Very unlikely that you find a 6 month contract. |
