It seems for the last 2-3 days I can just not get into my Yahoo mail and many times the Yahoo main page.

I thought maybe it was my computer or Internet connection but, even from computers in the school buildings, Yahoo just doesn't work.

I looked online doing searches to see if there were any press stories about Yahoo outages but didn't find anything recent.

Using proxy's didn't help at all. I am able to log in - sometimes. Maybe 1 out of 15 tries.

Anyone else have this problem? G Mail works fine but unfortunately for me Yahoo is my provider of choice.

People in the West please input as well as those in China or other Asian countries.

Thanks.

Ralph,

Maybe this topic belongs in the other China forum..the off-topic one..

but...to answer your question..

Do you have access to the Internet via your school's intranet?

I access the Internet from my room computer as well as from a communal teachers room and classroom computers. None seem to work for the past few days.

I was chatting on msn with a formal pupil several Provence's away and she said she could not access Yahoo Mail either.

So I think it is not a local problem.

No problems here, Henan

Check local internet bars. It could be your school LAN. May be the ISP also. Wells Fargo bank site was blocked for a couple of months a while back. Wells Fargo said they were aware of the problem but that it was being intentionally caused by ISP in China. Problem was eventually resolved.

Thank you, ISP in China.

The plan is to wonder over to a local internet cafe later and see if it works better there.

It may be obvious from prior posts, but I don't think this is a China-wide problem.

I was at a pc room the other day on the other side of town and couldn't connect to yahoo mail; today at my local pc room it's as quick as can be (by china standards, anyway). So this is a more localized problem I think.

I'm in Wuxi, in Jiangsu province, btw.

Odd happenings on this one. I've been having problems with Yahoo loading excessively slowly at home for the last four or five days. But I haven't had any problems when at the office.

At least I fell better that others share my misery.

I felt singled out by...Well who knows.

I don't see any announcements on Yahoo, or maybe now Yahoo and CCTV9 are run by the same organization?

Did I miss that merger?

I learned at a local Alibaba meeting here in Changsha just last week that they have taken over Yahoo China, so that might have something to do with it. I have been having the same problems so I hope it gets fixed. It took me hours to open an efax last Friday.

And I do mean literal hours.

I was in Shaanxi and it was a chore to access a yahoo e-mail account I have, and noticed the same problem when I arrived in Beijing. It's definitely a large scale problem.
