Can't you be arsed researching some actual jobs that are available through the variety of employment websites that are around or contacting schools directly through their own websites? It might help you get some kind of picture.
FYI, anything between RMB3000 and RMB25000 a month plus a variety of benefits, depending on where you are based and what type of organisation employs you. (Language mill, kindergaarden, university government school, blah blah). There is big difference in packages. You are a bit vague in your post and you sound desperate. You remind me of a character on TV called Geezzajob. "Geeza job, pal. Any job. I can do that".
What do you WANT to do? |

I want to save decent money and study Chinese and not work too many hours. Any job like that out there? |

Yes, there are jobs like that at the big unis, but usually not in the English language departments. Can you teach business, science, lit? |

Lofty goals I think. There won't be too many jobs out there where you can only work a minimum of hours that will pay you enough to get by every month AND save decent money. Even in China, you have to work to earn the big bucks. |

I find these posts interesting. Master's degree, multilingual, want to save money. Save money? Here? I could earn more in a day than I earn here in a month. Any savings is going to go in travel, unless your idea of fun is sitting in a flat waiting for websites to download on your computer. Or you could watch TV for several hours a day. That's a good use of your education. |

You can earn enough to save a reasonable amount, but you might not get enough time to study Chinese in those kind of jobs. Have a look at the Northern Consortium's website. |

The issue is, and I think a lot of new FTs in China, and elsewhere, fall into this trap, there are very few Chinese that could take a class in theoretical linguistics and understand it.
Hell, I'm currently taking a Master's course and am studying theoretical linguistics, and I hardly understand half of it.
The only Chinese students that will be able to take a high-level class taught completely in English, other than English, and actually learn from it are studying abroad in western countries.
I'm pretty sure you're going to be stuck teaching English. "High pay" and low hours generally mean university. You could always try an international university, which there are quite a few. Those, however, may not be low-hour positions. |

The girl in the pic is nice looking. With your qualifications, are you sure China is the place for you? |

Having a legit MA/MS in AL will get you an extra 300-500 RMB a month over the normal salary of the typical BA/BS in the university circuits.
Teaching linguistics is not a course that is often offered and taught by western FT's. If they do offer these courses to English major's, often Chinese teachers teach them and use you as a pronunciation backup.
Easy jobs, high salary with low hours are hard to find.
Those that find then almost never leave these coveted positions. |

That's so sad. I sure hope my Masters in TESOL will net me more than this! |
