Chaiyaphum is in Isaan, which is northeast Thailand. I assume you are going to teach there as its not a typical tourist area. It's not a bad place I guess, but it's nothing really special either. The city itself is a pretty typical Thai city. People are nice, friendly as they usually are in Isaan (at least when I have been through there). Probably a good place to go to learn Thai and Laos and be away from tourists (which is great in my opinion). Most of the province is pretty sparsely populated so its pretty natural and I think it has a wildlife preserve. Its close to Korat where there are lots of national parks and Korat city is a big city with lots of foreigners and thus western "stuff". I stayed near Khon Kaen for a month (which is also nearby) and it was a beautiful area and laid back time. Good luck |
