Hello,

I'm thinking of taking a job in Shaoxing of Zhejiang province and would happy to hear anything about the city from those in the know - good, bad or whatever.

Thanks in advance.

I spent part of the summer there and would call it "whatever" although a lot of people like and stay longer than 1 term. It is famous for canals which are pretty but of course polluted.

Depends what you like. It's not too big not too small. Parks markets and even a little "bar street." It is nice enough but my fondest memory of Shaoxing are the weekends in Shanghai.

Per Shaoxing,

I was there for a week and really liked it! In fact, I would have stayed there had I been able to find work. I couldn't, so here I am in Shanghai...

Its one of the canal towns (which I loved) and its clean, prosperous looking in parts, and well-ordered. Cheap? You bet! Check out the center of town, there are a series of narrow pedestrian lanes with tons of cool tea houses. Downtown also sports exactly one bar street - but then, thats a lot more than most towns.

Have fun!!

OH! I didn't read the previous post. Sorry to restate that poster's info.
