Is it possible to short term extend an expiring ARC or is there a grace period given after an ARC has expired before it becomes a real problem?
My wife and I will probably be leaving Taiwan in February / March but our ARCs expire on March 1st. We plan to not renew our current contract which will run until the end of February and would like some time to pack, move and store our stuff with friends so that we can go travelling.
If we have to work until the end of February it means we have to leave the country the next day unless there is a grace period or a way to extend it for a few weeks.
When we return to get our stuff we can come in on a 30 day 'landing visa' right? |

There is no grace period. Once it expires, it expries, so if you are still here you will have overstayed. This will probably make it harder to come back in later to collect your things. If you can get all your affairs in order, and then leave when it is time to go, everything should be just fine. |

So there's no way to extend it?
I'd be happy if I could just buy myself a week to get everything squared away without having to run around like a demented mad man while finishing up my contract. |
