Hi everyone - I have recently moved to Abu Dhabi and was wondering if there is some kind of What's On guide - to clubs/societies, social events, cinemas, bars, that sort of thing? I know there are bars attached to hotels and have found HEROES but some kind of guide would be useful. Either in print or online would be useful. Any advice would be very welcome. |

There is a magazine that comes out monthly called "What's On Abu Dhabi". Usually available at the larger supermarkets for about AED10 |

Madman,
You did the midnight run to Bahrain then?
Well done sir.............
Been trying to PM you but it's being held in my outbox for some reason.
Email me if you still have my address.
Avoid the 'Ally Pally' (Al Ain Palace Hotel) unless you are a sad eyed middle aged git after equally sad eyed Chinese hookers.

Yep, I did indeed escape - slipped out at Eid and sohdded away. Thanks for the heads-up - if I wanted to paddle in the pools of depravity with Chinese hookers I would have stayed in Bahrain. So where else in Abu D can wholesome fun be had? |

What's On and Time Out are the two guides to look out for. What sort of stuff are you into? If you're looking for other western expats try the Captains Arms at Le Meridien, or Brauhaus at the Beach Rotana. Try and join The Club (02 673 1111) - huge waiting lists for families but you might be ok if you're single. Lots of clubs and social stuff going on there. |

Hi Madman,
I just joined this forum in the hopes of connecting with you.
I'm a librarian too, and I would love to send you a PM, but I needed to post to the forum first. I see someone else tried to PM you but has some technical difficulty. Can you email me if this doesn't work?
Thanks a lot,
Isobel |
