Hello Everyone,

I have been offered a job through BKL Global, teaching in Luzhou -6000 RMB, free apartment, reimbursement of my airfare at the end of the contract, etc. I searched this site and the web, and have found nothing about this agency. I have read about the horrors of signing with a shite recruiter in China - clearly I would like to avoid the situation at all costs.

The only thing that troubles me is the recruiter's insistence that obtaining a Z Visa, sans a degree, is no problem. Does this sound like a potentially catastrophic move? Any advice/experience with this company would greatly appreciated.

misuse of terminology.

Z visa is what u get urself in ur home country. for the big 4, needs the work permit/invitation letter, and ur passport.

To get the work permit the school must go to the "education bureau" and apply. by rule, u r supposed to have a BS degree, (plus two yrs experience) but this can be waived. There is no way to tell whether they r lying or not. Provinces vary. Also this BKL may likely just submit a fake degree and work experience with your name when they talk to a school.

What is the risk to you? None. Apply to any school u want. I would never say never , but never use a recruiter, talk to the school direct before accepting a job. If the school knows ur situation, and still gets ur work permit, all is fine.

If the school knows ur situation and is not able to get you the work permit, nothing lossed on ur side

Ari's right. Steer clear of recruiters if you can. Most are in it only for what they can pocket. To them all you are is a paycheck, nothing more. Professionalism as we know it in the west is rare in China, but non-existent with these guys.

Please do a good search on this Board. It seems to me, I mean I kind of remember, that there was a rather long thread about this recruiter on this Board at one point, and if I remember correctly, and I want to hedge this, I do not think that all of what was written was positive.

There is absolutely no need to go through a recruiter.
