I don't know if this should be somewhere else.

I want to make a list of songs that are good for an ESL-classroom. So i make this thread for people to name a song. If you have time, drop a line or two on why the song is good and how you have used it.

Imagine - John Lennon

- I think this song is pretty common in ESL-classrooms. The song is good because beginners can understand it. There are very few difficult words (imagine) in the song. Everyone can have an opinion on the song, so it's relatively easy to spark a discussion.

-If the students just don't have an opinion, you can easily prepare a few interpretations and assign the students to find support for each interpretation by searching the lyrics.

-Imagine is a canonized pop song that is well-known in the west.

- There aren't many opportunities for the students to expand vocabulary with this song. So if you intend to teach vocabulary, then a different song might be a good option. It also depends on the students English level of course.

- The song is easy to listen to.
