both in indonesia:
the young guy who brought a loaded pistol into the classroom, pointed it at another student, threatening to shoot him there and then if he didn't leave his girlfriend alone.
and the guy who, when asked by his teacher the reason he was in the class, replied that he was there 'to buy english'.
Wonderful memories.

I had an Indonesian student once, of the Hindu faith. He told me that he was always accompanied by his 4 spirit brothers and that they watched over him and helped him to pass his English exams among other things. I often wondered why he would glance into vacant places and bob his head up and down.
I am not trying to make fun of him, I believe he really did see his spirit brothers. So perhaps he wasnt 'Looney' just gifted in a spiritual way most of us dont understand. |
