I was watching the BBC World Sevice yesterday and apparently, Sikorski actually said this about Obama in reference to his links with Poland.
It's not the first time Polish ministers have caused great offence in recent years. The Kaczynsky brothers have said all sorts of things about Germans, Russians, gay people and non Catholics. Poles certainly aren't as foreigner friendly as they were....all you have to do is read some of the tourism websites and reviews.
Polish attitudes to social issues are primitive, which is a polite way of saying backwards. There's no point in educating people if they are to remain ignorant.
Do you find your students a bit too conservative? |

sharter, did you hear about the flyer that one church in Poland was circulating a couple weeks ago, right after Obama was elected?
it showed a black man on the flyer, and below it read something like, "no amount of praying will turn your skin white." |
