I've been thinking I'd like to take a few classes dealing with Mexican art, especially art of the Colonial period and contemporary folk art. Where would be a good place to do this in Mexico City? I have a good background in these areas, so I could handle material on a somewhat advanced level.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions offered!

The only place that I am familiar with would be UNAM. Perhaps you could also check some of the local museums and see if they have advertise any programs, of if they could help to suggest ones of interest.

Thanks for the suggestions, dixie and Milenka. I'll check them out and let you know what I decide to do.

Casa Llamm also has art history classes. Also check out some of the museum bulletin boards for notices.

As I had suspected, Casa Lamm's classes focus on modern and contemporary art, not the areas I'm interested in. Thanks for the tip anyway.

I've found something at the UNAM that looks interesting: a diplomado called La vida cotidiana en Mxico a travs del arte offered through the CEC, the Centro de Enseanza para Extranjeros.

Heres the link in case anyone's interested:
