Please can anyone advise me. I have just been offered an 8000AED job(plus one bedroom accommodation+ air ticket + medical etc) in a language institute in Al Ain for 130 hours a week. I have got a Bachelors and M.Sc in Mass Communication but I am still doing my Celta and I hope to finish by January.
Is this a good offer?

Seems like a dreadful waste of a master's degree. Don't you have the three years' minimum teaching experience for the UAE colleges and universities? As for the merits of your package compared to other language schools and regular schools...looks about par for the course to me, but I'm no expert in those sectors. |

It sounds like you're an instructor rather than a teacher. There's a huge difference and consequently a big difference in the pay available. You'd be better off contacting the ELS Centres in Al Ain or Dubai and trying to get yourself some casual work - you'd earn more doing that, but then you'd have to find accommodation, organize your own visa etc. I'd be looking for what you've been offered + 10,000AED. |

Do you mean 130 hours a month? I hope so... even so if that's contact hours it's rather a lot.
I assume an MA in Mass Communication is what in the UK is known as Media Studies - so you aren't qualified to teach EFL in the better tertiary institutions in the UAE. Not sure if there are posts teaching content in this area at HCT, but you would need experience anyway. |
