|
|
As a teacher/actor in Los Angeles looking to make a big move to live and work in Asia this Winter or Spring, choosing the right city is very important.
What city(s) have good opportunities for ESL teaching as well as Acting opportunities for foreign actors?
Which ones are booming at the moment?
Which ones are declining?
I really appreciate any help and insight.
Thanks! |

Mumbai. ESL might be difficult to come by though. I think Chennai and a few other cities have got some big movie industries as well. |

Well I'm in Malaysia, and I've done a pretty good job at acting like a teacher for quite some time now.
Kuala Lumpur has a fairly vibrant arts scene. The best-known group is the 'Instant Cafe Theatre', and they use foreign actors as well as locals. Try a web search for information. Jit Murad was one of the founders; let's see, Jo Kukathas is another name that comes to mind. Andrew Lecci (or Leci), a Brit, was involved for a while but it seems that he is now in Singapore.

Hangzhou in China .. The place is remarkably green and clean especially for China. The West Lake is superb - paddle across in a sampan. Good local beer. Relaxed pace and friendly people are more impressive than the middle-quality beaches. |
