I assume you're talking about the IH in Wroclaw? If so, many good things, from what I remember has been said about it, as well as the fact that it's tough. No surprise there then. Please search and you'll find it.
Afraid that it'll be minus 15? Are you some kind of wuss? If you're afraid of the weather, may I humbly suggest Spain or the whole of Africa? Apologies if this comes across as rude, but come on....... |

Minus 15? That's barely chilly. Minus 25 is where the good times are.
Poland is not the place to come if you want a tan. |

Its in Krakow. Much the same i expect. I can tough it i am sure. Getting snowed in is a bigger worry - one can't be late for classes on a Celta.

Haha.. I remember while young, growing up in Poland (mid 80s) we had to sit in classrooms with hats and gloves on because heating pipes froze over. Good times!
Huge culture shock coming to the states and getting days off for 3 inches of snow. |

I remember doing it in the mid 90s when I was teaching at a Polish university. We had to give up though: it was minus 15 in my classroom! |

I am enrolled on the IH course in Krakow starting 5th January. I am sure that they have central heating in Poland. |

Poland isn't a cold country anymore in case you haven't noticed.
I've experienced ONE month of real winter in the 6 six years I've been here.
It rarely gets below 0 during winter in my area of Poland anymore and we rarely see snow.Today it's a few days before Christmas and 8 degrees and raining. It hasn't gone lower than 2 degrees in weeks
The climate change is really affecting Poland's climate severely.I doubt you'll see anything remotely close to -15 in Krakow this year.Someome told me yesterday Poland is becoming like Italy weatherwise.
I have to laught at my mother-in-law who complains about the temperature when it's near 0.Mroz,mroz,mroz she says as if it's a big deal! She grew up in the 50s and 60s when there was a winter here. |

I have just completed the CELTA course at IH Krakow. The course was extremely professionally run with a tremendous amount of support from the tutors for all of the trainees.
Krakow was a great place to be stressed out for a month despite the freezing weather and snow. |

Congratulations! Now, where are you going to work, and where are you from? BTW, this hasn't been a cold winter at all. Not exactly Italy, but not very cold so far, at least in Gdansk. |

I was supposed to start the course with you Terry. i am here now and can ditto all you've said. Especially the support from staff and trainees. 3 of us share a flat and work together.
Biggest hassle is the computer suite and the lesson templates - everything goe s worng and i hate using internet cafes to do my work especially as my handwriting is awful. Well i am going to improve my handwriting and forget using the pc's. maybe if i'd bought a laptop?

Glad to hear that you are coping with the course. If you survive the first 2 weeks the rest is downhill.
Agree about the computer room - people with their own laptop have a big advantage. |
