are there any jobs on socotra off yemen--anyone know?--if so, would you recommend living on the island?===thanks

Socotra, apart from being beautiful has very little in the way of infrastructure beyond that which caters for tourism (and even then it pails in comparison with Aden). You're better off finding a place in Aden which IMO is much more laid back than Sana'a. However, the security situation in Aden is getting worse especially now Saleh as done a deal with the Islah hardliners enabling them to set up paramilitary 'police' units to patrol people's 'moral's. Sana'a is a good place to get work as well as mingle with expats but, again, the security situation is deteriorating steadily. Furthermore, the pay is not all that good is Sana'a unless you're willing to take on a lot of private work, network extensively and/ore work at more than one school.
