If you're being offered a housing al lowance rather than housing itself, it's probable that you're not being allowed enough. Insist on accommodation being provided. The housing situation has become dreadful, so you're going to find it very difficult to find something of your own. |

Okay...but I am being told that you can find a
one bedroom in Al Ain for around 50,000 ....
I'm also told that you have to just look around
as good deals can still be found in Al Ain.
So would 90,000 be a
good housing allowance for Al Ain ? |

The question is WHO told you you could find something? Someone who wants to get you to the UAE? Check out the thread on UGRU and see what has happened there.
However, you can do a google search to find out how much housing is going for and if there are any places. example

UGRU stands for University General Requirements Unit at the UAE university.
The English program, set up in 1990, is part of the Communications Program which consists of English, Arabic and ESP programs.

90,000 is plenty
There are many places to find accommodation, personal reference is the best way. teachers from IAT, AAIAA, UAE Academy, HCT etc... have property which is easily found - the problem with UGRU may just be a service problem. The Islamic banks normally have a portfolio of properties which they rent out on behalf of clients or ones they own - they don't charge the usual agent 5% fee either.

Make the school help you. I can tell you that housing is hard to come by because I had to find something for August 2008 and I found... NOTHING. and neither could my school. Obviously I'm not homeless, but the question isn't so much price as availability.
90,000 is plenty as long as there is a space available. The bank recommendation is sound advice. |
