I would love to hear from anyone who has taught in or knows anything about this school. I am considering a job there, though so far have only had email contact and a good look at the website. It alls seems rather nice... but worryingly so?!

Any help would be lovely.

If its the one run by an English guy called Tom,all I can tell you is that I heard he's o.k. to work with but you need to be really tolerant and flexible in Kirghizia and remember you are there for the experience and to enjoy what is a fascinating country,despite all the problems it is facing!The pay was around $500 per month which is not much by ex-pat standards,even over there,and will enable you to get by but not save anything worthwhile.Then again,many locals don't make much more than that in a year but remember it is still very much a third world country in many ways,with all that the phrase entails!

London School is run by a local named Kendje. I know of a Tom in Bishkek, but don't believe he's running a school these days.

I teach there now, it's well-run, we have 7 foreign teachers here at the moment, 3 Americans and 4 Brits. I'm not making a fortune but I am able to save a substantial amount of my monthly salary, given my free accomodation and the low cost of living. I really have no substantive complaints apart from general language institute irritations, but, you should know what you're getting into re: Bishkek, life in Kyrgyzstan, etc.

I looked at their website recently, and I agree that it sounded like it might be a good deal. But does anyone else find it a bit odd that one of their job requirements is that applicants must have "no history of mental illness"??
Is this the kind of place that makes people go off their rocker?

It has often been an unfortunate phenomena that 'misfits' of one kind or another apply for teaching jobs in unusual and exotic countries as a means of escape and then end up bringing their own problems with them!Kyrghizia is a challenge for even the most level headed person,but also very rewarding in many ways and a fascinating experience...but if you want to make big money there,forget it and try somewhere else!The scenery is stunning and the people match it!

Well, it's for a September start, so I'd have time to see if things have settled down or not....
