Has anyone heard of this school? I filled in the application they sent me and returned it to them. Since then I have not heard back from them.
Is this the norm for them? I did send an email about a couple of weeks later to confirm the reception of the application and even with that I failed to get an email. Just curious.

I've worked at the ESCS in Katowice a few times in the past.

I think it all depends on the specific branch. The one I worked at was small and bit unorganized. They were paying 40 zl for 60 minutes.

I got tired of that salary and only worked there off and on in 2004 and again in 2007.I agreed to work there for one month in June 2007(a company class) as the wife and I were preparing for a summer car journey to Finland and I needed money for petrol.

They also had most of their classes at companies and with private individuals so I was running around on buses very early in the morning as those company people like to have classes before work. Cool

Sorry Rich. I forget which town it was in. It has been more than 1 1/2 months since I replied. Since I have not heard from them in all this time I had eliminated the email that I got from them.

I just got a surprise email just last week from this school. They say teachers earn 24-30 zloties per teaching hour depending on experience and qualifications.
I knew I had the application printed off and thought destroyed. But it wasn't. The address given on the form was in Tarnow. At least I can get my feet wet with this position. Any advice as to milk bars or the likes when it comes to places to eat? Thanks.

24-30 Zl an hour? I will hire you to do my classes at that rate!
Look the other way with this school! 30zl is for about 30mins of work depending on your experience!

At that salary, even milk bars would be a luxury.

1 zlot per minute is usually the standard for natives.

Tarnow is a growing city and increasingly costly and the whole "cheap milk bar" thing in Poland is a bit of a relic from the 80s and 90s.

I would look elsewhere. The salary they quoted is low even for Polish teachers of English.

Thanks guys. That is why I posted this message to ask. I got a TESOL certificate in 2006. Have been trying to find a job preferably in Europe. If that is the case with this school, then I will have to let them know that I am unable to take the position.
The only thing is, I do not have a degree. So I had thought that the pay was reasonable enough. Especially since it would be more than $3 Cdn above the minimum wage here in Ontario. Unless you can point me to another school that will pay a more reasonable wage for someone without a degree and no experience.

Anywhere in Warsaw. Turn up with CV and certificate and all bits and pieces for work visa (assuming that you're American) and get a job which will pay comfortably more then that.
