So, I went to Japan a while back, and I ran into an Australian working on a white water rafting job. He was the only white person I had seen in the better part of a month, and it was just so weird for me (people that have been through an experience like that will know what I'm talking about) that I never got the opportunity to talk to him as to how he got such an awesome job.
You guys are the only place I know where people regularly travel outside their own country, so I figure you guys will know at least a few places looking to hire outside their country's borders. If I was looking for work outside the school experience, where should I go? |

I know the feeling; I was in Korea for a couple of months recently, and halfway through, running into a stranger of European descent became sort of exciting! (Big cities are different, but I was in a pretty provincial spot)
Before anybody can be much help on your query, I think we're going to need some info.
WHat can you do?
What have you done before?
What do ya speak?
What have you studied?
Where are you interested in going?
WIth a little background, you may run into someone here who knows something that may suit you- but remember, most of us here are teachers. Not all have always been, but in most cases, teaching work is what we know best.
By the way, I don't regularly travel outside my own country- I occasionally visit the country I was born in!
Best,
Justin |

WHat can you do?:
I'm an Eagle Scout. In my free time, I was the director of the Sailing department for a rather large Scout camp in the East. At that same camp, I also educated 10-13 year olds in the basics of not dying in the wilderness.
I'm also an Education: English major at my university, but I will not be getting a teaching certificate because Connecticut sucks. Aside from that, I've got a few years experience in teaching poor kids how to fight the power. Occasionally, I got to teach English (literature) which was fun.
What have you done before?:
Taught English and various Scouting related fun things.
What do ya speak?:
English (this is obvious, but deserves warranting), and enough Japanese to find a bathroom and confirm that this is, in fact, meat (anyone who used the Genki Japanese language textbook will find this joke hilarious). I'm also still proficient with most of my kana, hiragana moreso than katakana.
What have you studied?:
I took a year of Japanese, as well as several years' worth of education courses. I even took an elective in Grammar and can explain the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis like nobody's business.
Where are you interested in going?:
Wherever has the best payment-to-horrible death ratio.
(thanks for your prompt response!) |
