This is for anyone who needs to know the procedure for proving that your diploma is legal - a requirement for your work visa...

The process recently changed, and isn't even on their website. This is, however, directly from the UAE Embassy:

***************************

REQUIREMENTS FOR ATTESTATION OF UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA

Please note of the following requirements in order to legalize university diploma:

1) Your diploma / degree first should be stamped by the Department of Foreign Affairs, and International Trade (DFAIT), JLAC Section at 125 Sussex Drive Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0G2 Tel. No. 613-995 0111 (Please note that DFAIT doesnt accept a copy of a degree if it is not notarized by a lawyer, notary public or commissioner of oath).

2) A fee of $50.00 CAD per document (money order or certified cheque made payable to UAE EMBASSY).

3) PREPAID return envelope. (We dont accept Canada Express Post).

4) Please note that we can ONLY legalize Canadian Degrees.

NOTE: To verify your degree, please order an official transcript (SEALED), and have it mailed directly from the University to:

UAE EMBASSY

125 Boteler Street

Ottawa, Ontario

K1N 0A4

Attn. Consular Section.

Consulate Section office hrs. : 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Monday to Friday)

If requirements are completed, processing time: 2-3 business days.

Hiya Ms. Parker;

Just checking to see if you have any other interesting tidbits that a Canuck should know. You may very well have already saved me a hassle with the note you posted above!

Awesome... glad it could be of use.

I can tell you that UAE Embassies around the world are all closed until the 14th for Eid too. You really need to call them before you truck all the way out there.

I've found out from speaking to different Embassy employees that they will do all the talking, even if you have one tiny specific question! They are also rather un-moved by tears.

I'm not in the UAE yet - arrive first week of Jan.

Hi Ms Parker,
I live in MZ and work at the school where you will work I think. Don't worry about the cats just do the required stuff. The one thing I would becareful about is the husband to be. MZ is a very small place and everything you do is known. I speak from experience. My boyfriend had to move from his apartment in Al Ain because I was seen in his place.
We are looking forward to meeting you and having you as part of our team.
