Should I pack toilet paper?
Can I make enough to survive?
Should I bring my cat?
Remember all the questions you had before you moved to the Czech Republic?
If you'd like to be interviewed for a book about teaching in the Czech Republic, share some of your advice and experience with others, and are currently teaching here, then please send the info below to: [email protected].
Deadline: As soon as I get nine more interviews!
Thanks!

There was a time in this part of the world when wearing a tie was seen as inappropriate and "bourgeois" ! |

Ties? Most of the 'educators' I know have their ar*e hanging oot their trousers.
In all my years teaching in CZ I never wore a shirt, never mind a tie..... |

Hi rviguerie!
Looked through the site and think it a great idea.
First hand feedback is always the most informative and hopefully the site will clarify a lot of the misguided information currently circulating, such as needing to get a visa from home before traveling to Prague, etc (which is complete garbage - the CZ is still very relaxed on the whole Schengen thing).
Was a little surprised though that ITC is mentioned alongside the Language House.
Didn't ITC allegedly go bust a few years back and allegedly run off with quite a significant amount of money from the hard-earnt pockets of TEFL students?
Perhaps now the ownership has changed?
Maybe someone could please illuminate.
Thank you.
I can agree with Arab Strap that when I was teaching I would often turn up and teach in t-shirt and trousers/shorts.
A lot of your students will be in middle management and these students tend to appreciate a little time out from business attire etiquette in their English classes.
Still though, even if a tie and suit doesn't guarantee an excellent teacher it does give a great first impression.
I think the general rule for first classes is business casual and then when it gets hotter see if the shorts, t-shirt and flip flops go down well or not.
Vesele Vanoce!/Happy Christmas!
