				| Is it better to go through a recruiter so that they can help you to arrange a work visa while your still in your home country? If so could anyone recommend a good recruiter? | |

				| Generally speaking any recruiter / school for that matter will ask you to arrive on a 60 day visa. This will then be turned into a work permit and susequently an ARC providing you have all the necessary documentation and the school agrees to sponsor you for it. I have never heard of anyone arriving on a work visa / permit and really why would you want to? It means that a school you have never seen has hired someone they have never met for a job that could turn out be entirely different than what is stipulated on a contract.

You could arrive in Taiwan but hate the city and the school. Unfortunately in order for them to process your permit you have already faxed a signed copy of a contract which means that for all intents and purposes they now own you and the only way you can escape is to do a runner and hope you aren't caught and deported.

Best to arrive on the 60 day and check out a few places i.m.o or line something up from home and check it out before signing anything first.

				| As an addendum to my statement quoted below; I'd like to say that having never gone this route I'm guesstimating about the process and whether there are ways to void a contract shortly after arrival. Perhaps there is a time stipulation wherein both employer and employee can negate the agreement? I don't know for sure so I'd just like to make that clear.

However, I STILL wouldn't sign anything before checking it out in person.
