That was me who said this. Yes both Laurie AND Betts are gone. They still have the VET program as I met some of the new volunteers a month ago, who is running it I have no idea. But the volunteers are stationed in Yangshuo at the Buckland hostel and sent to random villages around the area. I was told the students have horrendous English, but I don't know how good/bad it really is. |

There probably are more important things for poor village children to study than English..Of course, there is nothing on Gods earth more important than Chinese taking advantage of good-hearted Gwailo philanthropy...
How many latter in year Chinese are teaching mandarin to the poorest of nations in SE Asia, on their own dime...
Volunteers are SCABS, even if they dont realize it.... |
