I have a friend who spent a year teaching at Yang-En University, and he had a positive experience. This was in 2005-2006, I think. I was considering teaching there, because I got the impression there was a positive atmosphere. My friend was able to improve as a teacher, and he enjoyed all the sports and social activities.

I have heard that the university is not so good as before. Is this true, and if so, why? I heard they were hiring fewer teachers. I trust that they are not looking for teachers in January. I would welcome feedback from Western people who have taught there.

Thank you.

I was offered a position at Yang-En, and although I did not accept it due to its location, I found that the hiring committee was very open about answering my questions and by putting me in touch with teachers who could respond to my questions.

They were very candid about the issues often addressed and did not seem to 'cover' its flaws.

All schools have shortcomings; it's the manner in which these flaws are addressed and approached that makes the difference.

Nowadays, applying for the invitation and work permit takes a long time. If you don't apply now for mid-February, you may have to wait until August to begin. It's late now, as it is.
