|

Hey guys, just had a quick question for you.
I had begun to book my flight time for Japan today, but I am a little confused on the time difference. I am aware that Japan is 14 hours ahead of EST. When I was browsing, I selected a flight for March 15th Departure, which would depart at 10:28am EST and put me in Japan the following day at 4:40pm.
I am trying to book a flight for 10:28am departure on March 15th, which would mean it's 12:28pm March 16th in Japan. However, since I will be flying in a western direction over the pacific ocean, does that mean my travel time will actually go "backward?" This would mean that I would indeed arrive in Japan on March 16th at 4:40pm....or would it be "forward" as normal and the arrival time would be on March 17th 4:40pm? I am a bit unsure and wanted to double check.
I will try to figure it out, but I just thought I might ask you guys to confirm before I accidentally book a flight for the wrong day.
I need to arrive on March 16th Japan time. I currently live in Virginia Beach, Va which is in Eastern Time.
Thanks in advance. |

There are websites that will help you convert the time and day from EST to Japan time.
I think 10:28 AM EST is 12:28 AM the next day in Japan. Japan will always be a day ahead of any time in the U.S. |

What do you actually want to know? Airline tickets will tell you when you take off and land. What more do you need to know? |

You lose a day when you fly from the US to Japan. When you fly in the opposite direction you usually arrive before you left. |
